SEND & Learning Support

At The New Forest Small School we have a ‘Special Educational Needs and Disabilities inclusion policy’. (SEND)  Individual Education and Healthcare Plans (EHCPs) are made in consultation with parents, and any other services involved with the child’s upbringing.

Individually tailored provision plans may be offered to stretch the more gifted child, to support a child for whom English is a second language or to support those children exhibiting the need for support in a certain area.

The school offers ongoing pastoral support to every pupil as part of its philosophy and curriculum, as well as extra curricular support in Maths, English and Science. These sessions are individually charged.

Should other educational assessments or support be required, parents are asked to fund this personally, in addition to the standard school fees.

For more details please see our SEND Policy.

'The school’s approach also provides excellent support for pupils who suffer from anxiety and have special educational needs (SEN) and/ or disabilities. The supportive and welcoming nature of the school supports these pupils to develop confidence and self-belief.

One parent described the impact of the school’s approach to their child, who has anxiety and SEN. She said that her child is now happy and enjoys school after many negative experiences in other schools.

Pupils who have SEN and/or disabilities receive successful help and guidance from teachers and learning support assistants. The school’s supportive and welcoming environment enables pupils who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties to develop their confidence. As a result, these pupils make the same good progress as others in the school.'
