Secondary Assessment Procedures

At the New Forest Small School we assess all aspects of each child’s development, from the personal, social and emotional, to the academic. At staff meetings each child is discussed in a holistic manner. The school’s assessment procedures for secondary academic assessment are as follows - 

Lower Secondary

 

  • Daily assessment through observation & class lesson discussions

  • Subject Tests each half term/term for most subjects

  • Regular quizzes & academic challenges

  • Weekly individual tuition work 

  • Weekly homework for most subjects

  • Monthly tracking of effort and attainment in each subject

  • Autumn and Summer review including self assessment and focus on schools Framework of Aims

GCSE Class

 

  • Daily assessment through observation & class lesson discussions
