Academic Subjects

For a full outline of how each subject is taught and what topics are covered click on any of the subjects above.

Free Choice Period

This is a time for pupils to work on their own projects, read, work on the computer or socialise quietly with friends. Some pupils may find this kind of choice daunting so guidance is always available whilst they gain self-motivation.

Individual Timetables

Each pupil in the Year 10 & 11 classes has their own individualised timetable based on their GCSE choices. The timetables given above show the times when the main subjects are taught. When a pupil is not taking a particular subject they will either be in a small tutorial group for extra work in English, Maths or Science, or in some cases they will have Independent Study.

Other GCSEs

Pupils who wish to take GCSEs that are not listed above may apply to do so, but this is dependent on availability of specialised teachers. If they were the only pupil taking the GCSE this would incur extra tuition fees. Examples of other subjects taken include Business Studies, R.E. / Philosophy and Spanish, but in principle could include any GCSE.

Sport / Breaks

These are highly valued at our school and usually involve the whole class or primary and secondary classes playing a wide variety of sports, plus traditional, school invented and co-operative games. Free choice is optional.
