Secondary

'Most pupils leave the school with at least five strong GCSE examination results in a range of subjects. Outcomes are particularly strong in some subjects, including English, Psychology, Art and Geography. By the time they leave the school, almost all pupils achieve at least expected levels in English and Mathematics. Consequently, pupils are well prepared for the next stage in their education.'

Ofsted Report, June 2018

Offering academic excellence without the pressure and with high quality pastoral care, the Secondary classes are for pupils aged between 11-16 years respectively, attending on a full time basis. The classes are limited to a maximum of 12 children attending any one session.

The Secondary Classes offer a natural progression for those children who have attended the Primary Class, whilst preparing the children for taking their GCSEs. They also provide an ideal space for all children who thrive in smaller scale environments.

Aims of our Secondary Education

  • To provide an intellectually stimulating, thoughtful and inspiring environment where children have the space to be themselves, without stress, without fear of failure and without fear of bullying.

  • To provide an environment where the views and opinions of each pupil are respected and where children are treated as equals.

  • To provide a high quality educational programme to prepare the pupils for taking their GCSEs, whilst simultaneously meeting the individual needs of each child.

Secondary classes lessons are always designed to be…

Enjoyable…

if pupils are not enjoying a subject they are less likely to progress, therefore our lessons are conducted in a relaxed and friendly class atmosphere, where pupils are given the freedom to express themselves.

Engaging…

we believe pupils need to relate the subject matter of lessons to their own lives and experience as well as to other subjects, therefore we ensure that the pupils always see these connections through in-depth discussions throughout the lesson which involves every pupil.

Challenging…

we believe that once a lesson is enjoyable and engaging the pupils are ready to be challenged and taken to the next level, therefore pupils are encouraged to think for themselves, to have the confidence to embrace new ideas and to constantly develop their awareness of themselves and the world around them.

'The principle goal of education is to create men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done.'
Jean Piaget
